A while ago a friend gave me a song to listen to. I don't even remember how it came up. It was written by a witness of a plane crash from the point of view of the person in the plane. I'm not linking it here because it was the most morbidly gut-wrenching song I've ever heard. But there was a line that stuck with me - "I try to move my arm and see that it's not there." I guess this is what I was trying to describe with this page.
Sometimes there is no evil intent. Just a nurse passing you a glass on the wrong side. Because she happened to be there. It was not supposed to happen this way, it was supposed to be someone carefully and slowly informing you but... life is like that sometimes. Incidentally this marks the half of the first part of the chapter. All the hugs go to DI Chauncey today. Cop Story © Oly R. |

Mostly old characters here - or characters I am used to, at any rate. At least half of these sketches were drawn during ComMission the comic festival.
Ace Trotley being his cheery self. Then Jazz the orderly. It takes effort for me to write medical workers with any amount of warmth but I think I warmed up to Jazz - he has his own weird set of moralities which seems to work in the unusual conditions he has to work in. Patients like him. Troy here likes him though to be fair Troy likes almost anyone. A new face in the sketchdump is Brad Buckley. His story is still being developed so I can't tell you much about him but I couldn't resist drawing his adorable face. Then there's Gavin (or Gage?) with a comic book, Peter the RAF flying ace, Buckley again and Wayland. You might remember Wayland from here - http://www.nabyn.com/art/some-criminals-87936 And last but not the least, Max Morinelli, a psychologist working with cops. He appeared only in one sketch before and I felt like doodling him again since he appears in about 10 pages in the comic. Why? Don't you think Chance would need a psychologist after the latest few pages? Oh you guys, you haven't seen the page I'm working on now... D: Cop Story © Oly R. |

This is a bit of gift art for Yark-Wark; this is Ezkar, the main villain of her Team Prototype project.
I just have a ton of fun working with Yark's characters, and after drawing the heroes of Team Prototype, I decided I had to give Ezkar a try. I hope you like it Yark! Paint Tool SAI. Ezkar is (c) Yark-Wark. Art is mine. |

This is my end of a long overdue trade with Aeorys, this is Gadas the Itanta bounty hunter!
It took me a while to figure out who I should do for our trade, so I ended up settling on their ITS fan-character Gadas and her little drone Veebo. I had fun with her here, the posing was a bit wonky but she had a fun design and odd color scheme so I had fun working on her. Paint Tool SAI. Itanta and all things TITUS is (c) Chaz-GELF. Gadas and Veebo are (c) Aeorys. Art is mine. |

-"I am constant as the Northern Star!"
I'd give real money if he'd shut up. A long overdue commission for Arrakeen77. He asked me to recreate a scene from Star Trek VI; the torpedo surgery scene, but with Bahamut and his character in place of Spock and McCoy, and here is the final result. This ended up being a lot harder than I expected. it felt like everything was working against me here from the poses and perspective to the lighting. Honestly, I feel like I could do better, but...in the end I am happy with the end result. Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop 7. All things Star Trek is (c) CBS. Uniform designs are from Star Trek Online, (c) Cryptic Studios. Arrakeen is (c) Arrakeen77. Bahamut and art are mine. |

Felt like drawing something with environment even though it's just a garage in the darkness...
Here Chance and Gavin meet Alec Ayles, a self-employed, self-proclaimed private detective. He won't appear that much for now though all characters n Cop Story are reoccurring so if I draw someone once there's a chance they will appear again. I might upload some more sketches with him in the next sketch batch. Cop Story © Oly R. |

Does anyone remember the Reilly case mentioned here - http://www.nabyn.com/art/cop-story-1-1-2-79656 ? Did anyone wonder who this Reilly is? Well, time for some sneak peeks before we reach it in the comic. :B
Mister Reilly (full name unknown) is the most ruthless underground shark of- Wait, this comparison doesn't make any sense, what would a shark do underground? Anyway, mister Reilly is about as big in the criminal world of London as you can get without being caught. He is involved in almost everything shady and yet he manages to stay away from it enough to never get caught or even compromised. Everyone knows that he's a criminal... and nobody has any proof. Caroline Barker is his right hand man - or rather right hand woman, staying in the shadow of the great criminal mastermind. She is his trusted companion (in a purely non-sexual way since Mrs. Barker is still grieving about her husband, one of mister Reilly's men who was shot in a cop shoot-out many years ago). She controls everything that mister Reilly doesn't control himself and she is in charge or information collection. Caroline's eldest son Walter Barker continues the family tradition and works for mister Reilly. He has already been in prison once for robbing a bank and he continues doing various dirty and dangerous jobs for Reilly now that he is out, living up to his father's name. His younger brother Wayland Barker is the underdog. Wayland was always neglected since he was a second child in a criminal family going through hard times when his father was shot by cops. So nobody noticed that he had muscular dystrophy until one day he could not get up from bed. That would have been the end of Wayland's bright future in the criminal world but Mrs. Barker eventually decided to use him for robberies - he lures people in asking for help and robs them at gunpoint (I'll tell you guys a secret - the gun is not loaded since nobody would trust Wayland with a loaded gun). Nutter could have got them... but then one day he killed a suspect. So it's up to Chauncey to cross their path. And... we'll see the rest later, okay? |

In which DI Chauncey is upset.
DI Larry Larate actually appeared before (look back and find him!) but this is the first page where you can properly appreciate the fact that he's a jerk. Cop Story © Oly R. |

This post has new characters and old characters, as usual. And old characters that are sorta new.
Cop Story is full of people that would normally get no place in most action/adventure comics. Meet Jonathon Dunne, a police sketch artist. You wont see him running around with a gun but his art is what helps catching criminals too. Jon as a character was inspired by a story the best art teacher that I was privileged to know once told me about an artist with no arms. I guess the point of the story was to never give up, or it was just a random bit of information he fed into my stupid head but thing is, it stuck. And several years later it became Jon - and a tribute to my illustration teacher. We lost contact over the years but he still remains a huge presence in my life with the work principles he taught me. Oh, and Kevin returns. I was thinking about returning him for a while since I like him but he didn't fit in the story as an adult so I thought I'd give him some runtime as a kid. There's also his father Harris ( thinking of tweaking his design a bit though). Then there's still unnamed girl (I'll let you know when I decide on her name), the crazies all together, Butts congratulating a fellow officer (who belongs to http://gabiii.nabyn.com/ ), Nutter in a bad dark place, Chance in an equally dark and bad place and... that's it for today. Plumb forgot to upload this. Here's more work stuff for "Megabrain" magazine. And some work for your brains. Have fun!

11 x 8.5, pink biro, prismacolor and copic markers, gel pen on cardstock. Probably my favorite piece to date in terms of where Im trying to go with my art. I could let her go to a loving home but probably not for less than $300. Im in love with her haha I need to create an epic frame to put her in. <3

Finally got an approval to show at least some of the things I do for work. This is the front cover of a children's magazine called "Megabrain".

little did I know that when I created a robot AU version of sanzu, I would never stop drawing her....

Have some sketches while I'm busy doing work and can't upload much besides said sketches.
You have probably figured out by now that Cop Story cast is more than a little crazy. What you haven't figured out is that one of the storylines includes a psychiatric hospital - Chauncey happens to befriend a bunch of mentally ill patients, some of whom were formerly criminals (not saying that mentally ill people are prone to crime, in fact MOST OF THEM AREN'T) but when it comes to Cop Story you're usually either a cop or a criminal. So here they are: Philip Troutdale, a man who got hit on his head with a shovel and got his brain damaged as a result, Dylan Benton, who had a borderline illegal lobotomy performed on him and luckily didn't become a vegetable but unluckily it didn't help much with his problems either and only worsened them and Peter Cook, an ex-cop who is convinced that it's 1944 and he's a RAF pilot who just survived bombing the Germans. Then there's Larry Larate who was in a regular hospital, not psychiatric but I can't tell you why yet. And Carl Rhels, a genius programmer with cerebral palsy. In case anyone remembers Kevin (who isn't abandoned, I just can't fit him in Cop Story and have no time to draw more of his zany adventures), Carl could be considered an anti-Kevin because he does evil things with his programming skills. Eeeevil things. He also has a cousin Garren Rhels (who belongs to RedeemedShadow) who is an ex-con. Apparently evil things run in the family. And a bonus doodle of Llane I forgot. A 13 doodle I did a few weeks ago that I decided needed some color.

Well, yesterday I decided to jump into drawing robots since I was putting it off for waaaay too long. I've been learning how to simplify stuff down for the sake of simplifying, and to keep my sanity when drawing stuff 1000 times in a row. Didn't put a perspective grid down but I will for more final versions of stuff that needs it. =V
I'm not exactly attached to this design but I do want to try to expand on it to see if anything better comes out. If not, I'll drop it, if yes, well then someone is going on a robot drawing frenzy. |

Sometimes ridiculously small things can have big consequences.
Detective Constable Llane Moore was overjoyed when he joined Special Branch and became a badass copper who fights terrorism (no less!) rather than an ordinary copper. And things were going uphill until one day during a raid he slipped on a LEGO piece someone left on the stairs and broke his spine. Nothing particularly heroic, nothing meaningful, just really unfortunate ugly set of circumstances. It's supposed to be a spoiler but Llane appears really late in the series (not my fault, there's only so many events I can fit in a page/part/episode) and this is practically the first thing we find out about him so I figured I might as well upload this.
