Shenanigans! Tried some sloppy gradient shading because I think I would give myself a trauma trying to manually shade those python markings like I usually would, goddamn. Goes better with the fine lines anyway!

CINDERS BABY.
Took a break from work over Christmas, to use a new sketchbook <3 So nice to use pencils again! This is the first full pencil work that I've done in a long time, so it was a nice change - fun too! Commission for Kirinafa, of her pastel colored snow leopard gal. It was requested that I go a bit lighter on the background this time, which was a good experience! I favor dark tonal schemes and rich colors on blacks. It also forced me to treat the background texture a bit different than usual.

This is the final piece I will be doing for my 'Voodoo' series, an emotionally tough decision. Originally I had an idea of grandeur, but I think it would have been too much.
The image and title symbolize the end of the series. The relic is illustrated by the 'spirit' lamp, overgrown and forgotten, trying to remain existent. So here's to the end of my 'Voodoo' series, but a new beginning for a new year and for artistic growth. I've come a long way from my previous 'Voodoo' piece and hope to grow more over the next year. Today, my car got a nice bath. So, I was all inspired and crap, and decided to do a version of it as a dragon, like http://airu.nabyn.com/ 's dragon vehicle idea.
I had seen her truck as a dragon a while back and always wanted to try it for myself u_u; My car's a 1998 Grand Am. Dark green, and it's seen a lot in its time. I guess you could say this is my little tribute to it. I used to love it, hated it for a bit when it wouldn't run, and I think I might be back to loving it again. When we got it, it was a rental car, we bought it in 98, however, so it was probably only rented once. It has a cigarette hole in the back seat and melted crayon on the back seat seat belt metal. :[ After that, it was my mom's main vehicle and she drove it to work every day. And then after she got laid off, and became a mailwoman, it became a mailcar. Being a mailcar is extremely hard on a vehicle. It grunted and groaned through that for a few years, until she got a mail jeep, and then the Am just sort of became the everyone car. I learned how to drive in it, and I used to be so scared of it while idling down a lonely road, when first learning. xD Eventually it sort of became my car, and after my mom got rid of her jeep [it was about 20 years old, it couldn't handle a lot], she got a silver Xterra and now that's her car, and the Am is mine. It's quite a moody car, too. It likes to not start, and eventually just became such a mess that no one wanted to help it and it ended up sitting in the backyard for years. It's also rather tough for a compact. In an accident where someone stopped abruptly in front of me, I slammed my brakes, and the two cars behind me hit me. [I did not hit the guy in front of me. The car behind me hit me, then the car behind that car hit it, and caused the second car to hit me again.] While the other two cars were totaled, mine suffered a few very light scratches to the bumper. While it was a mail car, it got more scratches, haha. There are scratches from where mom would run over trash cans. [Don't put your trash cans in front of the mailbox, guys. Don't put anything in front of them. You will piss off your postal carrier.] This year was like its saving year, Mark helped us get it back up and running and even though it doesn't have any cold air, it's been working so far. While I'm typing this it's enjoying its spot under the carport. Sooooo. About the dragon. lol It has an awful lot of scars on it. Just because my car has a bunch of scratches. The dragon is only fourteen feet long, as this is exactly how long my car is. He [yes, he], has four shorter wings, as the car is a four door, and a car with four doors will have shorter doors than one with two doors. The tail is slightly club-like, and it short. My car has a small back end and the bumper-butt is pretty big, haha. He has some spines on his rump because the car has a spoiler. x: I guess that's it. If you need more info on the car's design and how the dragon relates, just Google a Pontiac Grand Am 1998. My car might seem shitty to everyone else, but it's really sentimental, and it's gone through more than most cars its age ever would. Sometimes, it even seems like it has a personality. But a very grumpy one. :P [The car growls at you whenever you accelerate. It's quite funny. [Yes it's been checked out by a mechanic for that.] I figure the dragon would have a bad temper toward others. Maybe only certain people get to ride it, haha.] u_u I had fun with this. I love cars and I love dragons, so this might happen more. For nor, I'll leave ya'll with this while I dogsit. :] |
