The Inugami, a Japanese spirit created by tying a dog just out of reach of food, and just before it expires from hunger, decapitating and burying the head. Usually created for the sole purpose of seeking out revenge, the Inugami is not an easy thing to control once created, usually ending in the spirit killing its creator once its done its job of seeking out a target for revenge.

The Harp relaxes in her private study with a favorite book and a pot of tea, accompanied by her companion dove, Hadi. The Harp is mostly blind, but she can get around well enough on her own in familiar places. She can read with the aid of a magnifying glass, which is one of favorite activities to give her voice a rest and be away from others for a while. Hadi is one of her constant companions, he is her guide when she needs it. Hadi flies ahead holding highly visible red ribbons in his feet, so that The Harp can see and knows where to go. If they needed to get home from very far away without help, Hadi’s navigation skills as a dove would be valuable.

A large full illustration commission for Kikivuli and Utunu! We were discussing what would be ideal for a large piece featuring their two characters, and settled on a hunting scene. The daylight helps show off their awesome markings and colors, and the scene shows off something about their character's lives. Kikivuli uses druidic magic to summon vines to slow their gemsbok prey, while Utunu strikes a blow with his spear.
This was a bit larger than my normal full illustrations, at 11" X 17" instead of 8.5" X 11". Took quite a bit longer too! 32 hours in Photoshop with an Intuos 3 tablet |

A gift for a friend who has been having a hard time lately. I needed a little practice with my acrylic paint so I made her a small 3" X 4" painting of her favorite animal!

I was intriuged by the thought of some "sub-species" or culture of werewolf going extinct like so many other creatures in this world. "Not all werewolves have managed to survive the ages. Many have died off and left behind only stories and occasional remains. The werewolves of Japan are one such group that disappeared around the turn of the 20th century. These werewolves were similar to their inland cousins, but are a little shorter in stature. They still stalk the folklore of many Japanese regions." Here the possible last werewolf of Japan slinks into a drowned graveyard, entering death while looking back into life as the wind bells chime. This is the most complicated and difficult piece I've ever attempted! There are a lot of flaws but I hope you all can enjoy the piece anyway. I enjoyed the work despite numerous frustrations, and painting the tiny red fruiting bodies of the moss was the most fun. |

It's pride againn.
First I made this and wasn't happy with it. Then Maia made this which was better, but still had some issues. And then after some more discussion we've ended up with the design. I'm just going to throw it out into the world and call it final. Pride's design is based on the idea of merging Hrimfaxi and Skinfaxi from norse mythology into one horse (conveniently giving it 8 legs and also making it Sleipnir). Pride is the night And the day, bitches - The ying and the yang, the alpha and-- yeah, you get the idea. Anyway, because of the Hrimfaxi/Skinfaxi thing she has both a day- and a night version. But the things is that it's always day in Pride's circle, so no one ever actually gets to see the night version. What do you mean you need to sleep? You need to be up and apreciating the wonder that is Pride at all hours of the day. |
