One of my favorite Owls, the Snow Owl. This one is a Female Snowy Owl, I think.

I used this Photograph as a referance: http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb414/commandereve1/snowy-owl.jpg It has the most amazing blue eyes. Although their Eyes are always Yellow from what i have seen, so I think that image has been edited.

such shiney eyes! *w*

and my critique would be to not do with on (or over) lined paper because you can see it in the pic
and also, the feathers/lighting on the left are a little hard to to understand. the white spots looks a little random and seem to have to little order...but I'm not sure how to fix it. maybe try adding more texture (like what you did with the face) or toning down the contrasting white-ness.

either way this is such a happy pic, great job :3

That’s what I drew first the Eyes. O:

Oh, I didn't do it on lined paper; those lines are from when I made the measurements to get the Eyes and Beak in the right place. I forgot to rubbed them out.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. In the image I worked off the lighting was very strong on the Wing there, becuase the owl is under a tree. I tied adding the shading on the face but it was difficult. But I think I will get a pencil out and make some fine lines on the Wing to give it texture.

Thank you! I really enjoyed it myself.

yep I see what you were trying to do too, and I just realized its because you've got such a dark background the light logic doesn't quite work--light up the back ground and I think it might fix the problem :)
CommanderEVE   December 1, 2011 - 2:39PM
Indeed. I shall mess around with the background and see what the results are like.
