agoraphobia WIP   by brighteyes
SO. I'm doing a series around the theme 'agoraphobia' and here the whole thing is that when we cannot articulate, then our thoughts are trapped within us.

the mouth is eventually going to be sewn shut and the skull area will be a cage and you can see the brain which morphs into birds that represent the thoughts.

and
I have no idea how to execute this so help

also if you have a tumblr then you can view more on the concept over there where I am called tisblasphemy
okay

Hmmmmmm.

I would suggest leaving the very edges of the skull where the skin ends and having rebar come out of it making a wire sculpture of the rest of the skull.

REF CLICK Similar to rebar in concrete.

More or less complex to this sculpture.

Or this one. Choice is up to you.

Only thing I would strongly suggest is find something other than birds. Birds have been done to death lately and would be too cliche. There are a million other things you can use to symbolize ideas.

Hope this helps. :3

hi! this is a totally fantastic piece. the colors are absolutely amazing and it seems almost sad or has a dream-like quality. I'm not too skilled with anatomy or ideas to turn it into a cage, but maybe some shards of the cranium can be cracked to reveal the bird...brain...BRAINBIRD IDK thing? or you can do something with the fissure/plates of the skull to morph them into a cage-like look, if this makes sense...or maybe even have the front part of the skull normal, and the back part a cage. it's a fantasy piece so you can have alot of fun with this C: I hope I helped just a bit! also the top/back of the cranium is a bit big, and the ear is a bit small, but otherwise this is great! I hope I helped even if it's just a little bit!

Hmm! I do know a little bit about anatomy, and in fact, we're learning about the layout of the skull right now in class. Perhaps you could do something with the sutures?

This is an exaggerated version, but basically the skull has natural breaks in between the plates that cover the cranial cavity. Mayhaps, to make the cage look a little more organic, you could either remove a plate of the skull and put a metal looking birdcage in the empty space, effectively creating a window for the viewer to see into.

Or, if you could manage it, you could add sutures and make the bars of the cage bone instead of anything synthetic, but that might make it look more cracked than anything.

Hope I helped at least a little :)
